The site located in the valleys of the Sirmour region is at the edge of the village called Chunner, the village is itself walking distance and the right proximity to give the property a sense of isolation and connectedness. The road had to be carved from the main highway upto the site for which the contours slope down and present a breathtaking view of the valley below and the River Rukmani flowing. It takes a slight attention to her waters rumble below in the daytime while in the evenings it is fairly perceptible. The site is situated at the edge of the workable contours of the mountain and presents a spectacular view of not just the river but of the valleys stretching in the distance.
The architecture though part of the hill is highlighted by lines which dictate a flow across the site and the contours where each space tries to orient itself to the sun-path and the views. The entrance is a pause which on one side leads to the kitchen and dining facility, climbing a few steps above while the walls have been accommodated to incorporate 2 existing trees on either side. Since the kitchen and the dining with its spill over become a point of interaction and act as an extension of a living room, the space along the linear form occupies its own identity. Towards the left of the entrance we cross the drawing-living spaces where the lower ground supports the carefully worked out structure network.
The bay windows in each room are extended and supported at some places with a diagonal column making the architecture appear light. The bay windows with their comfortable seating spots offer a stunning view across the landscape.
The retaining walls proposed were a spectacular fan assembly dividing the height in smaller manageable divisions, the existing one which was somewhat of a compromise owing to the challenges faced with the execution agencies, however there a considerable area which is part of the landscape between the retaining wall and the home-stay making it an ideal spillover zone. The underbelly of the overhead floor has been left vacant for the landscape to be included and making the architecture form more integrated with the landscape.
